Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent and debilitating condition among war veterans, often leading to chronic psychological distress and impaired functioning. Conventional pharmacological treatments may carry side effects and limited efficacy for some individuals, highlighting the need for complementary non-pharmacological interventions. Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation practice that induces deep relaxation and heightened awareness, has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach. This review explores the potential of Yoga Nidra as a non-pharmacological intervention for PTSD in war veterans, examining its mechanisms of action, including stress reduction, emotional regulation, and improvement in sleep quality. Evidence from clinical studies suggests that regular practice of Yoga Nidra can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, enhance psychological resilience, and improve overall quality of life. Incorporating Yoga Nidra into veteran healthcare programs may offer a cost-effective, accessible, and holistic adjunct to conventional PTSD treatments, warranting further research and integration into standard care protocols.
